Geological Fieldwork

Hellooooo there! It took me quite some time to find the perfect moment and also the mood to write on something. I've been really really busy these days. So many things to cope up with in so limited time.

So, told myself to just keep mind off those things for a little while and lay back, take a deep breath and chill.

7th Nov:
Mid semester break for all local unis.
When everyone else can sleep all day long and just hang out, we the UM Geology students kept ourselves busy preparing for our first ever fieldwork. Booo!

Location : Kuantan, Pahang & Kemaman, Terengganu.
Date : 7th Nov - 12th Nov

In case if you're wondering, fieldwork is actually a task for us Geologists to-be to go to a site, observe the geological structures, and map the whole area under observation. As for me, fieldwork plays an important role if I were to work in the petroleum industry, since I'll be working on the distribution of natural sources and what not.

I was quite nervous about going out of Selangor for more than three days without my family. Yes, this was my first time of going on a trip for a week, alone. Especially the thing with going there by bus. The thought of it made me sick already.

I. am. not. ready. for. this.

The moment I saw this, I felt like going back home right then. How is it going to be possible for us five to stay in this room for five nights? The smell of the room was even worse. We had to buy Little Tree's Pinna Colada for us to at least breathe.

Oh, and the worst part is that they only had one power source. How stupid. We even bought an extension power source so that each of us can charge our phones. Throughout the five nights, we were our own 'room service'. The only thing they did for you is make up the bed.

First day in Kuantan.

Food was the only thing that excites me while we were in Kemaman. Took my roommates to the famous Tong Juan restaurant to have dinner. They have the BEST stuffed crab ever made in the stuffed crab history! I happen to know this place as it is my family's favourite pit-stop before we head back to kampung.

Every morning before we started our fieldwork, the five of us will walk to a pasar just across our hotel to have breakfast. Nasi Lemak and Nasi Minyak were sold only at RM3.50. I can imagine getting rice and only a spoon full of sambal with that price in KL.

Rewarded myself with an invisible watch and self-tanned skin on the first day of our fieldwork. Hello Nicki Minaj! Hello Serena Williams!

The remaining four days were occupied with walking by the side of highways, climbing 8km of Bukit Kemuning all the way up and down, taking samples in the woods, and a lot of walking under the sun. 20km altogether.

'sambut menantu'

1.10.11
As mentioned in the title, 'sambut menantu' is a ceremony where the wedding is hosted by the groom's family. My brother chose the date above for his wedding reception, just exactly a week after his akad nikah ceremony.

In this post, I decided to put pictures instead of writing lengthy post of how the wedding was like. Photos tell us a thousand words don't they? Here's a brief description of how wonderful and magical the night was.

Venue : Tun Rahar Grand Hall, Menara Yayasan Tun Razak.
Theme : English garden wedding

All of my family members were in turquoise baju kurung and baju melayu. Too bad there weren't photos of us for me to show it here. I'll have to wait for the photos from the wedding photographers which usually take months to come up with all the pictures.

Since the theme was english garden wedding, my designer Syomir Izwa designed a dress for me and my sister, instead of the normal kurungs with embroidery and french lace. The outcome was fabulous! I'm so in love with it I feel like wearing it to sleep.

So here are the photos! *put on a wide smile on my face*
I was mesmerized by what Pak Abu, the wedding planner has done to the pelamin. The lighting, trees, and fresh flowers look so coordinated and pretty together! I wish my future wedding will be as pretty as this one. Amin :)

There were only 440 guests altogether, mainly close family and friends. I invited my friends from three different cliques, Sri Aman + UM + Rahman Putra. I also invited some of Azlieff's close friends. Sadly, most of my Sri Aman girls could not attend the wedding since they are all out of KL, and some even had exams. *sobs

As for the bride and groom, they looked STUNNING! I could see the joy on my mom's face, thinking she has done her very best to make her son's big day a memorable one.

Ieka, Ilda, Tasya, Ashee, me, Ayeen, Shues, and Aisyah.

I could not thank Ashee, Ilda, Tasya, and Aisyah enough for helping me around that night. Mom asked them a favour at the registration counter, addressing the guests their table number. All of the girls were so pretty! They were so excited that they went to the saloon to get their hair and make up done.

Hehe. I quickly asked Azlieff to snap a picture with me on the pelamin knowing  that my time will only be more or less six years from now. I just love how the colour of our outfit matches so well that some people think it was our wedding!

*laughing secretly inside*

addition to the family tree

24.09.11

Congratulations to my only brother and Kak Nurul!

My abang is finally united with the love of his life, and now has entered a new chapter, a very interesting one indeed.

I'm so happy for the both of them, no words can ever describe how delighted and thankful that everything went smoothly just as planned.

The akad nikah ceremony was held in Banting, where Kak Nurul's hometown is. The time scheduled for the akad nikah was in Saturday morning, so all of my family had to travel and sleep in Banting the night before. There were six cars of us altogether, convoy and made our way to Banting.

Abang looked so handsome in his pure white baju Melayu. The moment he slipped the ring into Kak Nurul's finger, I realized something...

This is it. I can no longer knock on his door and sleep in his room like I used to. What if I'm having nightmares, or if I got up to the sound of thunder? Darn it! My little sister is useless in this matter, she couldn't be bothered with anything when she's asleep. *sighs

After the akad nikah, we all went back to our hotel to change and get ready for wedding ceremony. The theme at Kak Nurul's place was traditional Malay wedding. My brother had this 'tengkolok' as they call it on his head. You'll see it on our RM 1 note, the one our previous agong wore on his head.

rombongan keluarga lelaki

The newly weds were so happy to see their relatives and close friends on that day. I think I can never beat them in having to smile all day long, greeting guests and posing to the camera. I should probably consider taking a smiling pill instead of a chill pill. That way I can smile without my cheeks feeling numb. Hahaha!

An addition to our family tree. I now have two sisters, which means more pillow talk sessions! Yippeeee!

sensitive skin

Perfume-free. Organic. Soap-free.
Gentle on the skin.

All of the little tiny details that I take into consideration and usually look for on the label before I buy my beauty / facial products.

If the product that I'm looking for suits none of the characteristics above, I won't dare to give it a try. No matter how fancy and colorful the packaging could be. Not to say that I'm fussy, just that I know the outcome and I choose not to spend more on the recovering process later on.

ITCHINESS. REDNESS.

Yikes! Two things I've been avoiding in my whole entire life. Our primary enemy.

This time, I would love to share some of the products that I'm using. I know that my skin isn't that flawless, yes, but at least these products helped me in reducing the appearance of redness and imperfections.

1) Cleanser

L'Occitane Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam
RM 105

- enriched in Immortelle floral water & citrus fruit peel to lighten the complexion.
- Immortelle also contains anti-aging agents.
- the mousse texture helps in reducing damage to the skin.

For me, this 150ml of bottle can last for as long as two to three months. Consider this as an investment, RM 30 per month. *wink

P/s : you might also want to try L'Occitane Shea Butter Milk Cleanser

RM 80
- it's milky texture helps to cleanse and remove make up all in one go
- it is 100% fragrance free
- perfect for sensitive skin

I've bought this cleanser several times before, and it works wonderfully! I don't even have to use toner after cleansing my face. Now, I decided to try the Immortelle range since it has a brightening and anti-aging effects.

2) Toner

Found this affordable and effective toner at Sephora for only RM 35.

- been using this toner for a couple of months, so far all is good.
- it is suitable for sensitive skin too!

3) Moisturizer

L'Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Comforting Cream
RM 143

- specially formulated with shea butter & organic cotton
- perfect for sensitive skin
- for me, this petite bottle can last for three months

* what I like the most about this cream :
the bottle is made in such a way that there'll be no trapped air inside the cream. This prevents the cream from being contaminated. And also you won't have to korek the cream using your finger, you get to use the cream till the last drop! Cool huh?

To all 'sensitive skin club' members, maybe you should give these products a try! Good luck!

third semester

Four months of holiday has finally came to an end. Aaaaaah FINALLY! But to be honest, I didn't know what to feel. Should I be excited to meet my buddies, or sad to be living a hectic life?

I didn't get any offer to stay in hostel or 'kolej kediaman' as they call it here in UM, since I wasn't involved in many activities to keep up with the merit points. I've been to few hostels to make an appeal, but they are all fully occupied. That was basically the main reason why I wasn't very keen on going back to UM.

Just three days before I entered my third semester, Dad called and said Kolej Kediaman 12 has approved my appeal, and I can collect the room key on Sunday. I can't believe my ears and started packing right away.

My necessities that I could think of at that moment.
I've been in the same hostel during my foundation and first year, so I didn't spend much time thinking on what to bring. If I ever got accepted into other hostels, I think I'll end up bringing half of my room.
I called Shuhada a.k.a Shues, my ex roommate and started planning on our strategy to get into the same room as soon as I received the news from Dad. Alhamdulillah, everything went well on the registration day. Yeay!

The view from our balcony. Thumbs up! 12th college has made a lot of changes to upgrade their standard. I LIKEEE.

Of course, our room is not going to be this dull and boring for the next two semesters. Shues and I are planning to do something smexyy liddat.
